The wait is over! After several delays due to production, UK genius Junq (Cultivated Electronics, Furthur Electronix, Revoke) proudly presents the second outing of his own Art Mechanical imprint...and be sure it will fully satisfy your impatience! Every Electro connoisseur will reckon this mutant EP as essential, as it brings together a much anticipated music based upon syncopated rhythm, Sci-Fi sounds and acidic elements.
Unhealthy “Abacus” starts the 12” off with no less than nine minutes of a funky Electro noir complaint. An oppressive and infectious atmosphere surrounds the listener as the first notes drop, while a fascinating yet slowed down bassline progressively surfaces. Metallic pads supported by a powerful kick and sparse 303 loops complete the song, inviting you to some robotic movements. Sinister as Hell, the whole track will make you feel unsecured from A to Z!
On the flipside, “Nocturnal habits”, my favorite, sounds like another demonstration of Junq’s unlimited talent to create unique masterpieces of Electro! Darker, Harder, Slower seems to cry this incredible and brainwashing tune made of intricate vocals, hypnotic melodies, heavy analog modulations and post apocalyptic visions!
Junq’s forays into Warp and early Rave music become more and more obvious with this future classic! With its haunting melodies, final cut “Sync” concludes the EP on more optimistic notes, fusing unheard frequencies into abrasive drums, bringing a certain amount of light in contrast to the two previous gems, causing invariably drama on the dancefloor.
No need to say that you’ll have to run fast to catch a copy of this very cinematic piece of plastic available in three flavours, all of limited amount. Electro as its finest!
