If you are a fan of bands like Depeche Mode, Cocteau Twins, Love and Rockets, or perhaps even This Mortal Coil, then there is a good chance you are familiar with the work of multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer John Fryer. As a record producer by trade since 1979, Fryer has helped oversee many projects by bands that have proven to be highly influential over the years, and now at a time when Electronic music has solidified itself in its many forms as a dominant style of music in general, perhaps this next project punctuates his career with an interesting nod to the origins of Electronic, remixing the song "Language" by Los Angeles based Inhalt, which is due for release soon on iconic German imprint Mechatronica, on a limited vinyl pressing run, along with digital formats.
An overall gumbo of highly sophisticated, industrial-influenced themes that are fierce, yet cold and desolate, "Simulation" by Inhalt, as the label explains, is at its core, an: "examination of neo-liberal capitalism and identity. Through this process, a new alluring narrative of the tensions of 2020 is born".
Record releases May 29th, 2020, but pre-orders for the limited edition vinyl are being taken now, so secure your copy via the label's Bandcamp page.
