Suction Records co-founder Lowfish, one of the true heroes of the Electro scene with releases on imprint such as Satamile, Noise Factory, and Ersatz Audio to name a few, announced recently on social media the upcoming release of a very interesting vinyl album entitled "Test(e)".
Originally meant to be his debut back in 1996 on UK label Skam - under his old Pest(e) moniker - Gregory De Rocher decided to go on his own after a rather frustrating dealing with the label, and so the artist we have come to know and love as Lowfish was born...but so was Suction Records! In fact, as De Rocher states on his Bandcamp page: "While that Test(e) tape wasn’t technically a Suction Records release, it served as the impetus for starting the label, and we’ve always referred to it as catalog # suction000".
The sound on this new release is impeccable as always, rich with analog tones and crafty beats, ranging in different styles within the analog IDM and Electronica realms, and recorded as De Rocher states on the release page: "Live to DAT with a bedroom full of analog classics (Roland Jupiter 6, TR-808, TR-606, Arp Odyssey, Korg MS-20), a sampler, and an arsenal of cheap FX units. The melodies here are lush and addictive, with layers of warm, lo-fi-ish (get it?) grit - often intentional, sometimes just a product of the process".
Due for release July 17th 2019, Lowfish's "Test(e)" will be available in both vinyl and digital formats, with the vinyl offered in standard black or translucent blue with a gatefold sleeve. Release as always is very limited, so don't miss on this one! Very special record from one very talented artist.
