Model Citizens/Matt Whitehead - The Bass Academy Vol. 4

Updated: Nov 29, 2018

Expected next year with a full length LP on a prestigious label in Germany, Phil Klein and Matt Whitehead aka Model Citizens proudly present their second EP to date after a remarkable debut on Fdb Recordings in 2014.

When two UK Electro legends revisit an electronic classic, it brings you an outstanding version of Kraftwerk’s “Spacelab”. The London duo gives to this timeless synth pop song written in 1978 somewhere in Düsseldorf, a second life thanks to a modern twist and the add of groovy sequences. If tempo remains slow, beats have received a serious dose of testosterone while vocodered vocals make their appearance by the middle of the cut. Dancefloor and melodic at the same time, the track never misrepresents the original, offering on the contrary a wonderful tribute to the true founders of the music we love so much. Top notch!

On the flipside, Matt Whitehead (Super Rhythm Trax, Perc Trax Limited) signs solo the frantic “Galactic Jet Stream”, an untouchable DJ tool made of classic samples, irresistible drums and robotic, turning the tune into a monster!

Lead with passion by infamous Vstee (Fdb Recordings, PKP), the French label’s fourth release in its second year history delivers an enthusiastic, edgy vision of a B-boy world halfway between old school and much anticipated music.

Another must have EP in a limited and collectible red sleeve! Rush also on TBA’s previous outings as the imprint aligns an impressive list of anthems from heavyweight producers Egyptian Lover, The Dexorcist, Exzakt, Jamie Jupitor, Gods of Technology, Dark Vektor, and The Blotnik Brothers. Stay tuned, this vinyl drops soon!
