Electronic instrument manufacturer Roland, has recently unveiled a new online studio in partnership with Japanese artist and designer Yuri Suzuki, who has previously worked not only with Techno legend Jeff Mills, but also Stockholm-based Teenage Engineering, and even will.i.am. of The Black Eyed Peas.

Presenting "808303.studio", this new online music creator focuses on Roland's most legendary and influential electronic music instruments: the TR-808, and the TB-303, and allows you to dive right in and compose using Roland's signature step sequencing technique, and giving you plenty of parameters to get some enjoyment out of them from the start. The 808 for example, provides all 11 instruments found on the original machine as well as accent, fill, tempo, and variation, while the 303 offers you that unique and blissful experience via the dedicated filter cutoff and resonance knobs, as well as envelope modulation, decay and accent.

808303.studio is part of The Design Museum’s online learning resource, and is free to use. You can access it by going here.

Below you will find a video by Electronic Music icon A Guy Called Gerald, who explains more in-depth what this new online studio can do, and how to get the most out of it:
